The organization practices with the belief that the built environment is more than simply a pragmatic solution for a space – rather our approach encompasses timeless solutions that provide innovative, memorable, inspiring and connected spaces for those who use them. Fundamental the belief is that a collaborative and responsive relationship with clients, partners and community results in the most functional, valuable and beautiful spaces the organization is renowned for.
The group of companies realizes that it cannot operate in isolation to the community, that good governance and social involvement go beyond the work performed in the offices. The company completes work for its clients by recognizing its responsibility to the environment so to always design from first sustainability principles. The practice also recognizes its responsibility to promote the sustainable use of the world’s valuable natural resources and it understands the impacts that it could have upon the environment during the course of carrying out its work. Tectura is committed to achieving excellent environmental performance at all times, regardless of the size or type of work that is being undertaken.
As an example, the current designs of some of our current ad previous project examples that highlight our socially responsible considerations include:
Emalahleni Tertiary Hospital; – with the design being grounded in: technology (including natural materials on site), cultural forms (the widely adorned hat from the Nguni people), indigenous ethical and social ideas (the community living philosophy), and historical reconstruction of the African past through a modern contemporary lens. The design draws inspiration from the local communities’ culture as well as their heritage such as their paintwork as well as their apparel.
Another example is the designs of the FET Colleges; – where the design of the structures allowed for various environmental benefits including natural lighting and passive ventilation. This not only aided in improving the education experience, but also in reducing overall running costs.
